CALFLU-AMAX2 is a set of five special calibration fluids formulated to calibrate the entire span of the Abbe Max Digital Laboratory Refractometer. All five fluids come in 1 oz. bottles and are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Although it is important to Zero-Set the Abbe Max refractometer to distilled water daily, it is also important to perform a multipoint calibration on a periodic basis. A multipoint calibration should be performed if you notice a general degradation in the instrument’s accuracy and precision and/or on a periodic basis determined by your particular history with the instrument. At minimum it is recommended to set it once a month to maintain maximum measurement precision. Factors affecting your decision to perform a multipoint calibration include how often the instrument is used, how roughly it is handled, how often it is exposed to large temperature changes, and the level of precision you require for your measurements. The Abbe Max is the only refractometer available that has a Calibration Wizard to walk you through the calibration process step-by-step. Approximately 3 ml of each fluid is need for each calibration.
